Energy Healing Techniques are promising in healing sleep disorders like Insomnia.

Lets look at some energy healing modalities used for insomnia treatment.

Treatment of Insomnia by Pranic Healing

Pranic Healing(PH) is a non-touch, drugless, complementary therapy that corrects imbalances in the body’s energy field. Insomnia was measured using the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS). On self-assessment before PH, AIS score was 16, indicating insomnia condition in the subject. A total of six pranic healing sessions, of 20 minutes each were applied on the subject. After six PH sessions AIS score was two, indicating a normal sleeping pattern. A significant improvement in the quality of sleep among prison inmates was noticed after Pranic healing. By normalizing the basic and solar plexus chakras, it was observed that inmates were able to sleep better.

According to the Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research a study indicates that PH can help people to overcome insomnia and lead to better well-being, productivity, and modified behavior.

Reiki for insomnia

Reiki may be beneficial for insomnia either by assisting to address the underlying cause of insomnia or help relax and establish better sleep patterns irrespective of the cause of insomnia.

Reiki helps restore patients overall sense of balance, both in the mind and the body which in turn may help to improve the person’s mood. Reiki provides relief from physical conditions like chronic pains and aches which might be the contributing factors of sleeplessness. Reiki session is often relaxing and it relives stress which could be a probable contributor of insomnia for some.

A study published in Biological Research for Nursing explored the ability of Reiki to produce a relaxation response. In this study, subjects’ heart rate variability, body temperature and cortisol levels were measured at various intervals before and after Reiki treatment. The study found that, while cortisol levels remained the same, there was a positive effect on heart rate variability and body temperature. This indicated a statistically significant relaxation response.

The evaluations before and after the application of Reiki promoted improvements in well-being, the quality of sleep, relaxation, the alleviation of pain and reductions in the level of anxiety.
